Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

This statement is made pursuant to Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It outlines the measures Brij Recruiter has taken to identify, prevent, and address the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and throughout our supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to take a proactive and transparent approach to safeguarding human rights and preventing exploitation.

Introduction

Modern slavery is a global issue that affects every country and every industry. It can take many forms, including forced and compulsory labour, servitude, debt bondage, human trafficking, and deceptive recruitment practices. These abuses often involve coercion, threats, deception, and the exploitation of vulnerability. Brij Recruiter condemns such practices in the strongest possible terms and is committed to ensuring that they have no place in our business.

We take our responsibilities under the Modern Slavery Act seriously and have embedded ethical recruitment principles into our organisational culture. This means taking a clear stand against exploitation, ensuring transparency in our supply chains, and working collaboratively with our partners, clients, and suppliers to identify and mitigate risks.

Our Business

Brij Recruiter is a UK-based recruitment agency providing tailored staffing solutions for both temporary and permanent roles. We operate across a range of sectors, including warehousing and logistics, hospitality, construction, and engineering. We supply skilled, semi-skilled, and entry-level workers to businesses of all sizes, from small enterprises to national corporations.

Our operations are headquartered at Spaces and our team consists of recruitment consultants, compliance officers, administrative personnel, and management staff. In addition to our direct employees, we work closely with a network of vetted suppliers, labour providers, and service partners who play a role in the delivery of our services.

Our Supply Chains

Our supply chains are diverse and may involve multiple layers, especially when providing temporary labour solutions. They include direct recruitment from local labour markets, partnerships with third-party recruitment agencies, training providers, IT and technology suppliers, payroll services, and general business support services.

We acknowledge that risks of modern slavery can arise particularly in high-demand, low-margin industries where there may be less regulatory oversight, and where migrant workers or individuals from vulnerable backgrounds may be employed. These risks can be heightened when recruitment takes place through complex or international supply chains.

Policies and Ethical Standards

We have implemented a Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy that sets out our zero-tolerance approach and the responsibilities of all employees in preventing exploitation. This is supported by a Supplier Code of Conduct, which requires all suppliers to adhere to ethical labour practices, comply with UK employment laws, and demonstrate transparency in their recruitment and employment procedures.

Our Whistleblowing Policy enables employees, candidates, and suppliers to report concerns confidentially without fear of retaliation. Reports are investigated promptly and thoroughly. We also have robust right-to-work checks, identity verification processes, and recruitment compliance audits in place to ensure that all candidates are legally entitled to work and that their employment is free from coercion or unlawful deduction of wages.

Due Diligence Procedures

Before engaging new suppliers or business partners, Brij Recruiter carries out a series of due diligence checks to assess their suitability and compliance with our ethical standards. This includes verifying legal status, reviewing policies related to modern slavery, checking references and track records, and ensuring that contractual agreements include explicit clauses prohibiting forced labour and trafficking.

We monitor our suppliers on an ongoing basis, and where higher-risk arrangements are identified—such as sub-contracted labour or recruitment from overseas—we take additional steps to verify working conditions and payment practices. Where non-compliance is found, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions or, if necessary, terminate the relationship.

Risk Assessment and Management

We undertake regular risk assessments to identify areas within our operations and supply chains where the risk of modern slavery is greatest. Factors considered include the geographic location of suppliers, the nature of the work involved, sector-specific vulnerabilities, and historical evidence of exploitation risks.

In sectors such as temporary logistics, hospitality, and construction labour provision, where the risk of exploitation is recognised as higher, we apply enhanced due diligence and more frequent supplier audits. We also maintain close communication with workers to ensure they understand their rights and know how to seek help if they have concerns.

Training and Awareness

Training is central to our approach. All Brij Recruiter employees receive mandatory training on identifying and responding to signs of modern slavery and human trafficking. This training covers key indicators, reporting procedures, and the use of available resources, such as the UK Modern Slavery Helpline.

Managers and compliance staff receive additional specialist training in conducting investigations, supplier audits, and managing potential incidents of exploitation. We also encourage suppliers to provide equivalent training to their own employees, particularly those directly involved in recruitment and workforce management.

Monitoring and Measuring Effectiveness

We assess the effectiveness of our anti-slavery measures by reviewing supplier compliance reports, monitoring staff training completion rates, and tracking the number of incidents reported and resolved. These metrics are reviewed annually by our senior management team, and improvements are made where necessary.

We also commit to engaging in industry discussions, attending training events, and learning from best practice guidance issued by government agencies and industry bodies.

Our Commitments for the Future

Brij Recruiter is committed to continuous improvement in this area. In the next financial year, we will expand our supplier audit programme, develop more detailed reporting tools for tracking compliance, and extend our training programme to selected suppliers. We will also enhance our supply chain mapping to gain greater visibility into lower-tier suppliers and ensure that ethical standards are applied consistently throughout.

Approval and Publication

This statement was approved by the Board of Directors of Brij Recruiter on and will be reviewed annually to reflect our progress and evolving best practice.
